Browsing the racks of Luisa Via Roma was one of the most fashion-wise intense moments of my life – I’d say it’s in my top 5 best stores ever (can’t forget Dover Street Market, Topshop…) and I think that’s because of their amazing selection – they carry the big labels (Givenchy, Balmain, Ungaro, Dolce), emerging designers (Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane) but also more niche brands, like If Six Was Nine, Haider Ackermann and Krystof Strozyna. What’s even better it’s that they get the big pieces from the collections – the real standouts, we’re not talking about the versatile dresses or the perfect black pant. Luisa is all about the massive and extravagant stuff. I’ve seen amazing leather and fur pieces and the jewels are incredible – they’re got a brilliant selection of Delfina Delettrez.
I went there last summer and as you may remember, it was the peak of Balmania – so you can imagine how fast my heart went when I spotted those black leopard boots. They had all the major pieces from Balmain back then, it was all amazing. Another great ‘sighting’ was the selection from Moncler Gamme Rouge, designed by Giambattista Valli. I never cared much about Moncler but Gamme Rouge is out of this world. As most things are in LVR.
The Florence store’s incredible, for those who can’t make it there, www.luisaviaroma.com ships worldwide.
